Looking for a getaway or a gateway? Midwest gets you there

Looking for fun in the sun? Midwest will launch its second nonstop flight from MKE to Los Angeles, beginning October 1. The new service will operate daily, except Saturday. Nonstop seasonal service between Milwaukee and Ft. Lauderdale will run December 17, 2009 through April 19, 2010.

Looking for monumental views? Milwaukee’s hometown airline will offer nonstop service from MKE to St. Louis beginning in March 2010. Thrice-daily roundtrip flights start at just $49 one way.

Hey sports fans, fly to the game on AirTran

Just in time for football season, AirTran will begin offering nonstop service to Indianapolis and Pittsburgh from MKE, starting October 6. AirTran also will increase its Denver service to two daily flights, starting October 6, and resume seasonal service to Phoenix and Fort Lauderdale, starting November 19.

MKE fares fall-ing, again

Fall leaves won’t be the only thing dropping this autumn in the Midwest, according to nationally recognized travel writer Chris Elliott. He recently ranked MKE atop his list of “top five least expensive destinations for fall travel” on his blog, www.Elliott.org. Airfares out of MKE will average $197 this fall, compared to $279 last fall, a 29.3 percent decrease, Elliott reported.

Airport spokesperson Pat Rowe says leading reasons northern Illinois travelers book roundtrip flights out of MKE include low fares, reasonable parking fees, and the ease and comfort of using an alternative airport.

Chili’s Too! spices up MKE food options

Hungry air travelers flying from MKE can choose fresh, flavorful and fast food options at Chili’s Too!, now open post-security in Concourse C.
